Coordinated through the USNA Admissions Office, the Blue & Gold Officer
Program trains a nationwide network of informed volunteers who assist in
the candidate admissions process. This group of more than 2,000
volunteers consists of active duty and Naval Reserve officers, retired
military personnel, alumni, friends and supporters.
Blue & Gold Officers (BGOs) serve every state and several overseas
territories. BGOs are assigned to high school liaison duty and are
expected to make the most positive impression of the United States Naval
Academy and the naval service. They are qualified to counsel prospective
midshipmen on every aspect of the Naval Academy. BGOs typically attend
college information sessions at schools and participate in college fairs
and congressional service academy functions.
BGO's are assigned as many, or as few, candidates as they can handle
based on personal commitments and schedules.
